Persian Learner Part One & Persian Learner Part Two
Persian Learner series by Professor Peyman Nojoumian, a professional linguist and seasoned language educator, offers a wide array of learner-centered tasks and exercises that systematically engage learners of Persian in the learning process from absolute beginner to intermediate levels. Supported by a convenient online learner dictionary, it also exposes students to authentic samples of Persian in use, with ample scaffolding. This is a truly self-contained package that greatly facilitates the teaching and learning of the Persian language and culture.––Ali Abasi, Associate Professor of Persian, University of Maryland
Persian Learner Part ThreeProfessor Peyman Nojoumian has been working for over a decade on preparing a proficiency and task-based textbook series that incorporates the teaching of culture into a well-structured college curriculum for learning the Persian language; the result, supported by Farhang Foundation and published by UC Irvine's Jordan Center for Persian Studies, marks a milestone advance in the entire enterprise of language teaching. Subtly privileging a pragmatic approach to cultural literacy, this volume seems best suited for intermediate and advanced learners. It is my privilege to endorse every aspect of it and do so sincerely and wholeheartedly.
––Ahmad Karimi-Hakkak, Professor of Persian Language, Literature and Culture, University of Maryland
Dr. Nojoumian's Persian Learner series provides authentic exposure to the language as it's used day to day. Over the course of just ten units, students are introduced to the key words and phrases they will need in Persian-speaking environments and learn about the major holidays which define Iran's culture. His introduction to the writing system is intelligent and well paced, and his attention to the subtle differences in formal and informal speech is a crucial feature which sets this textbook apart. I can say wholeheartedly that this book is the best introduction to the language I've seen yet.
